Real Gold And Fools' Gold ... (Revelation 8:1-9:21)
Real gold and fool’s gold - What a difference there is between the two! In 8:3, we read about real gold. In 9:7, we read about something which ‘looked like crowns of gold’. There is a difference between the real thing and the counterfeit. There is a challenge for us here - in connection with both salvation and service. In Matthew 7:21, Jesus warns us, ‘Not everyone who says to Me, “Lord, Lord”, will enter the Kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven’. In 1 Corinthians 3:10-15, Paul invites us to think seriously about the ‘quality’ of the ‘work’ we’re doing for Christ. Is it work which will prove to be of real, lasting value? - ‘gold, silver, costly stones’. Is our work superficial? Does it lack any real depth? - ‘wood, hay, straw’? Build on Christ: ‘Be careful how you build on Him.’
Open Your Heart To Christ (Revelation 3:20).
"Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me" (Revelation 3:20).
As we read the Book of Revelation, let us make sure that we never overlook this very important verse. This is God's Word to us at the beginning of the Christian life. An Open Door (Revelation 3:8)
"I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name" (Revelation 3:8).
We read here of "an open door." As we think of the open door of opportunity, let us think first of the opening of our heart to the Lord. Let us remember this. The blessing of fruitfulness is given to those who seek to maintain the obedience of faithfulness. Let us open our hearts to Christ, and let us pray that He will open for us a door of opportunity to bring blessing into the lives of others.

More Listening To The Lord And Less Listening To The World (Revelation 2:20)
"Nevertheless,I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols (Revelation 2:20).

Why Is The Church In Such A Terrible State (Revelation 2:15-16)?
"Likewise you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth" (Revelation 2:15-16).

Faithful To The End (Revelation 2:10)
"Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life" (Revelation 2:10).
Here, we have God's call to faithfulness. He is calling us to be faithful to the end. Let us pray that God will give us His strength so that we may remain faithful to Him throughout our earthly journey.

"The Seven Churches" And "The Seven Spirits" (Revelation 1:4-5)
The "seven churches" are first mentioned in Revelation 1:4 - "John, To the seven churches in the province of Asia." The next verse speaks of "the seven spirits who are before His throne" - Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits[a] before his throne, 5and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth (Revelation 1:5). Here, we should note that, in Scripture, the number "seven" is the number of perfection, the number which speaks of wholeness and completeness. The "seven spirits" speak of the fullness and perfection of the Person and Work of the Holy Spirit. The "seven churches" speak of the whole Church in every age and every place. The messages in the second and third chapters of Revelation can be applied to the Church in every age and every place. When God speaks to "the seven churches", He is speaking to your church and my church. He is speaking to all of the churches.
"On The Island Of Patmos" And "In The Spirit" (Revelation 1:9-10)
In the early chapters of Revelation, the importance of keeping the Word of God is emphasized by two significant factors - (a) the context in which John received this "revelation of Jesus Christ"; (b) the messages spoken by Jesus Christ to "the seven churches." (a) John was on the island of Patmos - "I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus" (Revelation 1:9). He was also in the Spirit - On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet (Revelation 1:10).In the midst of persecution, there came "the revelation of Jesus Christ." There is alesson for us here. If you are faithful to God and His Word, there may be persecution, but there will also be blessing.
How Are We To Read The Book Of Revelation?
How are we to read the Book of Revelation? - We are to read it with a view to keeping it (or living according to its teaching) - Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near (Revelation 1:3). Here, God is promising that His blessing will be given to those who read, hear and keep the words of this prophecy. Reading and hearing are important, but they are not enough. The blessing comes where there is reading, hearing and keeping the Word of God.

When we read this book, we will find that there are many questions we cannot answer, many things that we cannot explain. Nevertheless, there is one thing we must never forget - This is "the revelation of Jesus Christ." Whenever you're having difficulty understanding this mysterious book, remember its first five words - "the revelation of Jesus Christ."Some people dismiss the Book of Revelation because it seems so different from the rest of the New Testament. This book contains many symbols which are difficult to understand. Nevertheless, we must ask, "Is it really so different from the rest of the New Testament?"

The Book of Revelation is the most mysterious and most difficult book in the entire Bible. This doesn't mean that we should read it. When you read a book, it doesn't make sense to stop reading it before you;'ve read the last chapter - yet that is exactly what many people do with the Bible. They stop short of the last book - the Book of Revelation. Why should we read the Book of Revelation? Here are two good reasons - (i) God wants you to read it; (ii) The devil wants you to ignore it.
